To ask for recommendations for a super warm WFH chunky cardigan

Shameless traffic post, I'm sure I am BU posting this here.

Work mainly FH and looking for a very warm chunky, woolly cardigan that I can throw over other clothes while I'm at my desk. Preferably grey/ black/ charcoal, with a hood and either knee or mid thigh length.

I'd like to spend under £50 if possible. Have looked at a few websites but it's hard to tell what's going to be the cosiest solution.

Thanks in advance for any recommendations!

Have a look at the knitwear on Fatface, it is 20% off at the moment.

I have bypassed he cardigans, and bought a man's dressing gown from Next. it's enormous and thick like and Oodie, but cheap, and easy to take on and off at speed. This is my day dressing gown- replacing big cardigans. I don't need the heating on much with it.

Pixiedust1234 · 29/09/2022 14:41

Loitering as I'm in the market for one as well. All the ones I've seen dont have pockets Sad

Oddbutnotodd · 29/09/2022 14:42

It’s unlikely that you’ll get a pure wool cardigan for under £50.
Try an outdoor pursuit place for a warm layer. I have a lap heated throw for cold days and a wool mix dress from Tk maxx

Look in the mens section of your local charity shops. I bought 3 wool jumpers this morning , for £12 . (My house is freezing)

inthekitchensink · 29/09/2022 15:12

I just got this one from Amazon for £18 and love it - no hood, but thick, long and very comfy, I’m very pleased with it

I had a similar dilemma last year, I bought a lovely 'thing' from Marks & Spencer's nightwear section that's actually a dressing gown but no belt etc, more of a house coat if there still is such a thing.

Mine doesn't have a hood but I've just looked and seen this one www.marksandspencer.com/teddy-borg-hooded-cardigan/p/clp60553945#intid=prodflag_plp_ts_QP_100|pid_pg1pip48g2r13c1 which I may now need to purchase

Asda George range have some decent ones, some with pockets.

This literally matches none of the criteria 🤣

Good idea re the charity shops. Might do a trawl tomorrow afternoon. Thanks for all contributions and glad it's not just me looking. I'll need mine to look presentable (rather than dressing gowny) as I'll be wearing it while on Teams/ Zoom.

I've found one, OP, but it's £70 and now I really want it damn you

Rather than a cardigan, look at a coatigan or shaket. Basically like a thin jacket/cardigan. They will probably be a bit warmer.

smogsville · 29/09/2022 17:44

@ParentallyUnprepared damn you too that's lovely

@Raidtheice I've also now found a pure wool Aran coatigan that busts the budget beautifully 😂

Everyone's links and suggestions are v helpful as I now have more of an idea of what to hunt for in the chazza shops tomorrow.

@inthekitchensink very nice, my only issue would be the arms not being full length. Is it warm even though mainly acrylic (not being a fabric snob or anything, genuinely curious!)?

The M&S zipper linked to upthread is one of the warmest things I’ve ever worn! Would fit the bill for you, OP.

Mum198000 · 29/09/2022 18:04

Lakeland do a heated poncho that’s great for wfh.

Houseplantmad · 29/09/2022 19:00

There are loads on Vinted - just bought a 100% wool belted long line cardi for £8!

inthekitchensink · 30/09/2022 10:12

@smogsville I wear it with long sleeved top underneath, and means I can still type etc - hare being restricted round the wrists! And it’s warm yes

Also, get a heated throw. It made WFH so much pleasant having one last winter! Much cheaper to run than heating during the day.
