To be furious with tutor at DS’s college

DS has SEN and spoke to the SENCO yesterday about an issue with one of the lessons and then today the tutor in that lesson told DS that he shouldn’t be speaking to the SENCO about it and that it was “unacceptable” of DS to speak to the SENCO and not him. The tutor doesn’t sound very approachable to be fair to DS and has been telling the SENCO that issues have been “resolved” when they haven’t. DS has said the SENCO has said she’ll speak to the tutors again and resolve the issues in the lesson. I’m worried that the tutor will tell the SENCO it’s resolved again when it’s not. Also Aibu to be furious with how the tutor spoke to DS today?

I’ve also spoke to the tutor too for DS by phone and he didn’t seem very interested with resolving the issues in his lesson despite the tutor telling the SENCO that issues have been “resolved”

Nothing surprises me. I hope you get it sorted, and the SENCO has teeth.

Is it worth me ringing the SENCO too to speak to her?

That's appalling.

A first year college student I know told me yesterday about how a lecturer was mistreating another student with tourettes. Despite being told what the student needs, the student is being denied this, which is causing the condition to worsen.

She's a good egg and stuck up for the student. But what's up with some people. It's not ok.

Hi - I’m a teacher and it’s perfectly reasonable for a student to speak to the Senco (or a Ta) about an issue. Many students (especially those with additional needs) may be unwilling or unable to speak to the member of staff themselves.
no tutor should be telling a child off for discussing their learning with another adult.
