Daughter’s school literally just sent a message home tonight - please send in your child’s favourite food or snack for tomorrow for food class.

I am not sitting here at 8pm cooking bloody curry on a school night, AIBU to just send her in with a pack of naan breads or something since this is one of her favourite things to eat or is that being too stingy?!

100% reasonable.

PolkaDotMankini · 27/09/2022 18:24

That's totally fine.

Johnnysgirl · 27/09/2022 18:26

Isn't food class where they learn to cook, not eat food?

HangOnToYourself · 27/09/2022 18:28

Yea that's fine it.says food or snack

lanthanum · 27/09/2022 18:29

They're not going to want people turning up with things that need to be kept in a fridge. No need for it to be their number one favourite food. It would help if they said what the purpose was - if it's looking at nutritional information or food miles then they'd probably prefer something in a packet.

I'd send in a packet of wotsits 🤣

NoSquirrels · 27/09/2022 18:31

‘Food or snack’ and only notice given is the night before, they’re only expecting something you’ve got to hand - fruit, crackers, biscuits, naan bread all totally acceptable!

Nothing wrong with that. Grin

Georgyporky · 27/09/2022 19:16

I'd reply and tell them I need at least a week's notice to prepare proper food.

Oh FGS. Of course they don't mean send in a curry! (Or a roast chicken or fish fingers ...)

Clearly they mean something easy to bring in, not necessarily for eating & certainly not for heating up.

I do agree as per PP that some clarification around the purpose from the teacher would help.
