Labour to spend reinstatement of 45% tax rate on nurses, doctors, etc.

Can someone explain this? If the 45% tax rate is reinstated, wouldn't it just bring the budget back to where it was? It wouldn't create extra revenue to allow this investment, would it? Surely they would have to reinstate the 45% tax rate and make cuts elsewhere to allow them to do this?

The 45% cut was funded by borrowing. So after criticising the government for being reckless with borrowing, Labour are going to spend the money on something different. If they want to be consistent with their criticism, they should reinstate the 45% rate and not spend the money on anything.

They need to sort out the tax annual allowance situation or all doctors will be reducing hours/ retiring early and there will be far too many vacancies to fill, far worse even than now, thanks to this years inflation

Hate this type of rhetoric. Putting something specific towards something specific. I very much doubt it actually works like that and is a little bit a la the 350m for the NHS on the Brexit buses. It's just a sound bite.

It didn’t ring true to me either

They had a similar line for the £400 energy rebate as if it was extra found money
