wesayenough.co.uk/oct1/

enough said. be there or be square! unless people attend / rise up / protest we'll be stuck with this awful govt for another two years and the country will be changed beyond recognition.

End tax cuts, end food poverty, end reckless financial gambling, end the excessive rich / poor gap, end child hunger, end crazy energy bills.

Sign up and see you there. It really is time to get off our backsides, UK. Never a more important time!

Bumpety bump. Will be there with bells on! Anyone else? Anything which can show this shower of clowns and crooks in government how unhappy people are is worth a try. Might not effect the higher ups much but the Tory MPs in marginals might sit up and take notice which could have a knock on effect.

Shortjanet · 28/09/2022 16:06

Oops, affect not effect.

VeniVidiWeeWee · 28/09/2022 16:19

And attending said protest will do all you suggest how, exactly?

It's about showing this shitty government that we are pissed off. We have to do something.

Shortjanet · 28/09/2022 16:25

Well it'll do more than sitting at home feeling pissed off and moaning on here will. At least I'll get a bit of fresh air and exercise!

DrManhattan · 28/09/2022 16:26

If you use the services / industries that the strikers work in you should join (if you can) to show your support.

Pineappleamy · 28/09/2022 16:28

There's train strikes that day.

user1471447863 · 28/09/2022 16:34

It might be for help if you wrote a letter to the government explaining how you would solve the food poverty/excessive rich / poor gap/child hunger/crazy energy bills problems. I'm sure as you don't approve of the governments methods that you have prepared and modelled your own solutions to these? I'm sure the government would be very grateful to have access to a better workable solution that would keep everyone happy

Shortjanet · 28/09/2022 16:41

I think this current government have made it clear they don't give a shit about fixing the above problems hence the protest. Not giving tax cuts to the very wealthiest and not tanking the economy would have good for a start. Liz Truss has been put in power by a tiny number of people and is implementing policies which have never featured in any manifesto. I think it's ok to be pissed off about it and to protest.

Ylvamoon · 28/09/2022 16:42

👏👏👏

Let's hope they listen!

TooMuchToDoTooLittleInclination · 28/09/2022 16:47

Saturday 1 October 2022 (strike action by both the ASLEF and RMT unions)

as @Pineappleamy said. RAIL STRIKES

Mrsfussypants1 · 28/09/2022 21:48

We are going to the Newcastle one, quite a big group of us. Writing to both the government and our local Mp has had zero effect for me so far. Enough is enough 😌

My suggest would be the government sack Patrick Minford and start listening to what the vast majority for economic experts are saying instead (I know, I know, this is the 'don't need experts' lot).

Kendodd · 28/09/2022 22:04

Thank you for posting this OP. I'm either going to go to my nearest or to protest at the Tory party conference in Birmingham.

I haven't seen a petition to reverse this budget and impose a windfall tax on oil and gas companies instead. If anyone sees one, please point it out to me.

cimena · 28/09/2022 22:33

There are so many people working for all the right things involved in this - people who want kids to have food, everyone to get paid properly, housing to be affordable, schools to be decent….

I know it seems like a bunch of standing around for nothing, but even if you just do that, the people who ARE doing stuff will be glad you’re there and it’ll give them hope that people want them to keep going.

And yes, it is a whole lot of pompous dicks but at least it’s pompous dicks who aren’t actively destroying the country so bloody GO everyone. We’ve got a shot, at least

Shortjanet · 30/09/2022 08:01

I hope it's ok to bump this again. There are so many threads about the terrible damage this government seem hellbent on doing. If you're angry about it please consider joining us tomorrow if you can.

Wazzzzzuuuuuuup · 01/10/2022 10:14

Anyone going to the London protest today? We are in town for the weekend and would like to join. What can I expect in terms of scale? I'm very small town and never joined a London protest before.

Cassillero · 01/10/2022 10:17

I think the government know people are pissed off, they just don't care. None of the other protests achieved anything. I don't have a better idea though unfortunately...

pastaandpesto · 01/10/2022 10:24

I went to London for the last one (early summer?) but can't get to one today because of the rail strikes unfortunately.
