My DD had surgery today. On a ward of 4 beds (but only 3 occupied)

bed opposite has has a tv/dvd wheeled in for her. They’ve been playing in the night garden for more than an hour, every now and then putting the lights on full to check something.

all other lights have been dimmed but I do appreciate the nature of the hospital means there is noise.

but surely there is a cut off when you are on a ward with other children? My DD is 3 and is struggling to sleep (as am I) we’re both bloody shattered without the constant song “yes my name is iggle piggle” it will be my ear all night 😩

Oh my goodness. I feel for you.

I don’t know what to say. But it sounds like one of the circles of Dante’s circles of hell.

Yep that sounds like utter torture. Poor things. Hospitals are painful at the best of times!

ChicCroissant · 23/09/2022 22:05

In The Night Garden used to make my head nod, and my DH, but rarely had the same effect on my DD unfortunately. You have my utmost sympathy. I hope your DD is doing OK after her surgery. Can you ask them to turn it down a tad so she (and hopefully you) can catch a bit of sleep?

This happened to me when son was in hospital. I mentioned it to nurses and they asked parents to turn it off.

I think you would be well within your rights to ask a nurse to ask the parents to turn it off.

I’m going to track a nurse down soon, it’s ridiculous! It’s still baring out
