Eye test but don't buy glasses from them

Wasn't sure how to word the title but would it be unreasonable of me to pay for an eye test but not buy glasses from them? They are cheaper online so I would need the prescription to then order online. Is that ok to do that or do they get funny?

Some places may get funny as they want you to buy from them, but you are under no obligation to do so, and perfectly entitled to take the prescription and buy from anywhere you wish to

I always ask for a prescription -then I can buy the glasses at my convenience and where I want. I also keep prescriptions for each of us in our first aid travel kit - just in case we broke our glasses while travelling.

You can ask for your prescription, you don't need to give any reason for not wanting to buy glasses there. I got some from Glasses Direct once

When you pay for an eye test you are paying for the service and the prescription. It's up to you to decide what you want to do with the prescription when you've got it, so YANBU.

Just a word of caution: unless your prescription is very simple, it can be a bit risky ordering online. But if your prescription is a nice easy one and you've done it before, there's no reason not to do the same again.

Not at all. Ask them for your pupil distance if possible, you'll need it for your online order but there are apps you can use to get it if not.

Absolutely fine. Just say I haven’t got time to look today pay take prescription and go. If you are claiming back test cost through work check if work have any forms optician needs to stamp before you go.
