To think Scotland having a minutes applause tomorrow is in poor taste?

Given that the applause is for a 96 year old rich woman and they are playing a country that has been at war for 7 months with a casualty count of almost 30k currently? Surely that’s just in poor taste? Especially since the country’s ‘mourning’ period is now officially over?

Is this football related? I think if they want to applaud good for them the mourning has 6 or 7 days to go just FYI.

Mrsjayy · 20/09/2022 13:58

Oh I'm wrong about the mourning I thought it was 17 days , but still if a football stadium wants to clap then good for them .

ParkheadParadise · 20/09/2022 13:58

Aye
It's all a load of pish.

Yes it’s disgusting when Ukraine is at war

Travis1 · 20/09/2022 14:01

Yeah Scotland vs Ukraine game. I’ll be there and given what I know for the people that sit around me at least, it is not what the supporters want. More posturing by the SFA in my opinion.

YABU, they are entitled to do this whether or not worse things are happening in the country they are playing. It's not a misery competition.

Animallover87 · 20/09/2022 14:04

The only reason they do it is because idiots ruin a minutes silence by shouting out inappropriate nonsense. It's to cover that up.

Travis1 · 20/09/2022 14:06

@Animallover87 on Saturday the Celtic fans changed the narrative with their singing during the applause. Where there’s a will there’s a way. Not saying I’d take part in that but I certainly won’t be applauding.

Your title makes it sound like the whole of Scotland is going to be clapping which it definitely isn't!
