I’ll preface this by saying I will (obviously!) be trying to get a doctors appointment first thing tomorrow, but I’ve been googling for days and can’t find anything so thought I’d try here 😁

my main issue is muscle cramps. I’ve had cramp in both legs since Friday. It started off so bad I couldn’t physically force my foot down because it was stuck constricted on my tip toes. On both feet. At the same time. It took an hour of very painful walking to force the cramp off. Since then, every time I straighten either leg, the cramp comes back. My muscles are also setting, so I can sit down and it’s painless, but when I try and stand, the muscles have constricted and I can’t stand straight until I walk (hobble in a crouched position!) it off.
then today I’ve started with an awful headache, and horrendous chest pain. It’s not a heart attack, I’m 99.99% sure it’s heartburn, but gavisgon isn’t touching it. The only thing that makes me feel slightly better is pacing around, which is also great for the leg muscles! The initial cramp did give me a panic attack so I’m not sure if this is linked to that?

like i said, I’ll be trying to get a doctors appointment tomorrow. I daren’t drive because I can’t stretch my legs! But any ideas what the hell is wrong with me?

Phone 111 now and speak to them. Nobody can diagnose you over the internet, but it sounds as if you need a conversation to assess if you need to be seen.

Hankunamatata · 19/09/2022 19:27

Chest pain - you need to speak to medical professional asap

Allmarbleslost · 19/09/2022 19:33

If you have chest pain you need to go to a&e. You don't know that it's not a heart attack.

Mymoneydontjigglejiggle · 19/09/2022 19:34

I'd see someone urgently. The only time I've heard of such a thing is when my mum had a blood clot, and the only thing that eased the pain in her legs and chest was walking! Get seen asap.

endofthelinefinally · 19/09/2022 19:39

We could all ask you questions and share suggestions, but that would waste time when you need to be getting medical advice.

DonnaBanana · 19/09/2022 19:41

I had all these things with a severe B12 deficiency but it could easily be something far more serious so do get checked out!

Cramp is usually due to dehydration. But chest pain could be anything from indigestion to a heart attack. 111 or A&E ( I suspect 111 will say go to A&E)

Throckmorton · 19/09/2022 19:43

Go to A&E right now, or call 999 - this is precisely what those things are for

MyHeatingIsntOnYet · 19/09/2022 19:57

Thanks, I know I sound like a complete idiot, but I’m certain it’s heartburn. I always get it like this when I’m poorly. My pulse is regular and even and a normal speed.
mom a single parent with young children and no one who can help, I can’t go to a&e right now, but I’ll stage a sit in at the doctors tomorrow to make sure I’m seen by someone

Don’t wait till tomorrow please ring 111 now

MistyGreenAndBlue · 19/09/2022 20:08

The cramp sounds like claudcation, caused by poor blood flow in the legs. This indicates a heart problem. Combined with the chest pain it sounds worrying to me.
At least call 111 for advice. They may well send an ambulance.
At the very least, paramedics can do an ekg to rule it out.

Any doctor worth his/her salt will send you to hospital anyway with these symptoms.

You NEED an ekg asap.
Are you also nauseated or light headed?

MistyGreenAndBlue · 19/09/2022 20:10

Claudication*

lemonyanus · 19/09/2022 20:18

I mean it's probably cramps caused by dehydration/walking a lot/unsuitable shoes/vitamin deficiency and chest pain caused by worrying about it.

But it might be a heart problem and your kids need you healthy so call 111 and prepare for a visit to A&E.

I look forward to you coming back and grumbling at us for making you visit A&E with a muscle cramp! But it's worth it if there's a chance of serious illnesses.

InSpaceNooneCanHearYouScream · 19/09/2022 23:16

Gawd! Go to A and E or call an ambulance. Very worrying symptoms. Just the non stop cramp should have made you seek medical attention before now. How old are you?

CakeMonster1 · 20/09/2022 08:38

Severe hypertension symptoms, get checked immediately

Fraaahnces · 20/09/2022 08:46

Cramps can be caused by so many things. Most of them are postural or structural and resolve relatively easily with something like correctly-fitted shoes or orthotics. Some cramps are caused by a mineral or electrolyte deficiency. This can be caused by dietary choices or an absorption problem. Sometimes it’s an imbalance of these things caused by an illness or a they are a side-effect of medications. Some cramps are symptomatic of life-limiting illnesses like Motor Neuron Disease. Please don’t waste your time on here. Go and see your doctor asap.

MyHeatingIsntOnYet · 20/09/2022 12:11

Sorry for the delay! Finally got to see the doctor who said the chest pain was indigestion and that there’s nothing they can do for the leg cramps so to just try pushing it out by stretching. Not at all shocked about the indigestion but pretty unhappy about the leg pain :(

God Op what a shit doc you've seen. I'd go to the hospital for a 2nd opinion if the doc didn't even run any tests. If you're kids are at school go now.
