To think the Royal Family are not great at anticipating issues?

The Royal Family has decided that Harry can wear his uniform as they thought it would look bad if Andrew wore his uniform, but Harry could not. This is an 11th-hour decision after a public outcry/
But this was easily anticipated. Charles and others know the public hate, Andrew. One of them should have realised how bad this would look.
And they keep not foreseeing issues. It surprises me how poor they are at anticipating issues.

Some of the issues they face are pretty unforseeable.

Random Australian man claiming he’s your illegitimate son probably isn’t covered in the King’s Employee Handbook.

Mindymomo · 17/09/2022 19:20

If we are to understand it the Queen regularly updated her funeral requests down to the smallest issue. Maybe she wanted them to wear uniforms, but other family didn’t. Don’t suppose we will ever know.

Itstrueiagree · 17/09/2022 19:21

Agree. For all their private education they don't seem to be the brightest at spotting something so blatantly obvious!

Chainunderreaction · 17/09/2022 19:22

Definitely agree

I thought it was absolute BS him not being able to wear his uniform in the first place

antelopevalley · 17/09/2022 19:22

@Itstrueiagree My thoughts exactly. I do not care who wears uniform by the way, but if I had been planning this I would have seen it as an obvious major issue that needs change.
It just makes them seem out of touch.

🙄 Do you not get tired of starting threads slating the RF

antelopevalley · 17/09/2022 19:26

@Kinneddar Obviously not.

Can't you give it a rest. They haven't even buried her yet.

Luredbyapomegranate · 17/09/2022 19:28

They’ve got a lot on, and there must be a lot of egg shelling when it comes to Harry between what the Queen wanted, what’s normal protocol, Charles and William’s feelings which presumably are quite a maelstrom, Harry’s behaviour, press reactions..

But yes, I think their advisory staff / system is deeply outdated and inadequate - too many duplicates I suspect - hopefully that’s something KC will work on.

Squirrelblanket · 17/09/2022 19:31

You're surprised that the royal family are out of touch? 😂

MozzarellaMonster · 17/09/2022 19:32

Humans are a whinging , complaining species and no matter what they prepare for someone would have an issue with something.

antelopevalley · 17/09/2022 19:33

@Luredbyapomegranate I agree that advisors in touch with the public mood that they will listen to would make a difference. The Royal Family depends on public support, so they have to be able to anticipate issues that would alienate the public. There are diehard fans that will support them no matter what. But most of their supporters give conditional support. And it is those people they need to keep on side.I wonder if the issue is their advisors, or whether if the advisors are critical they are not listened to? I mean I will never know, but would be interesting to know where the issues are.

Fair point!

I don’t think it’s the royal family themselves it is the people who run their lives. They have zero choice over anything.

HerRoyalNotness · 17/09/2022 19:55

How Do we know any of it is true anyway and not some shit being stirred up in the papers to create division (working very well it seems)

Well because they released a statement with the change, yesterday I think.

OP - I think a lot of it is advisers from too many different courts, with too many different priorities, some of them really from another age.

But it certainly has been partly family - the Queen had a lot of strong points but she was notoriously resistant to conflict and change, so I think it was probably hard to get decisions and updates made.

Hopefully Charles will bring in a broom.

No but you might expect it if you've been sleeping around.

I've no idea what the truth is but I'd imagine a well oiled PR machine is equipped to deal with scandal. They're just crap at PR.
