To think ignoring someone is rude and unprofessional?

I work in a kind of support role - I handle contracting and finance etc.

Now three times in the last month I’ve had projects initiated by certain departments that I’ve done a lot of work on and then when I ask the stakeholder if they are continuing with the project before signing the contract - absolute silence. Not even an acknowledgment to say no.

I don’t care if it turns out no as things in business change all the time but to outright ignore someone is so rude.

Agree.

I hate being ignored, even a ‘we’re not sure at the moment, but we’ll follow back up once we have more info’ would do.

just an acknowledgment

I hate this. Just acknowledge my email and let me know. Simples.

I’ve started using UIKO with my clients for feedback/deadlines/anything.

unless you let me know otherwise by x date/time - I will presume/do/schedule/launch/put a stop on…

then I just take whatever action I stated when they invariably don’t get back to me.

most people only need to trigger this once and see I’m serious and they pull socks up.

it’s simple consequences/ cause and effect and I do it with my partner and adult children.

I’m not wasting my life chasing people for answers.

good luck.

Google left me none the wiser, please explain what is UIKO.

TheCatterall · 16/09/2022 12:01

@lljkk it’s an acronym I made up? UIKO - “unless I know otherwise”… I normally expand it to - “unless you let me know otherwise… “
