I feel sick.
Can I turn this around and fast.
Liver enzymes up due to weight gain or medication or alcohol use or stress.
I have a past history of inflammation of the liver as a child.
I am so scared.
Can I turn this round ?

How much do you drink OP?

nauseatednow · 13/09/2022 17:16

During the summer, I could have drank 5 bottles of wine per week at different events .
Since holidays ended, more like 2-3 per week.

How high is high?
Can I suggest you stop drinking.

Why we’re you having it measured?

Luckily the liver does recover. If your Dr has told you that this is fatty liver disease you need to lose weight from around your middle. As you are drinking rather a lot cutting that back will make a huge difference quickly.A low carbohydrate diet is usually good for shrinking the abdomen but whatever you do take your Dr's advice first.

autumn1610 · 13/09/2022 17:25

I would suggest cutting back the wine. Recommended amount per week is 14 units average bottle of wine 10 units. at your peak 5 bottles a week you were 3.5 times over the recommendation, obviously less now but if your wanting to see a turn around that would be the obvious thing to drop

nauseatednow · 13/09/2022 17:28

I have stopped alcohol
With immediate effect thank you for replies.
I am panicking I think.
I started on milk thistle also.
I would have thought that a low fat diet instead of a low carb diet was the way to go?
I've put on one stone in two months since starting hrt and due to an injury, have been unable to exercise.
I feel so sick and scared, thanks for responding.

You need to have this conversation with your GP and they will be able to line you up with the right help.

The British Heart Foundation have great advice for eating to lower cholesterol. Mine was high after poor diet/alcohol and a medication that raises it. I got it down quite quickly by following the advice on there and taking plant sterol capsules.

nauseatednow · 13/09/2022 17:32

She just said loads of fruit , vegetables and water , no alcohol , low fat diet .

Studies have shown that HRT actually prevents abdominal fat.
Weight loss is mainly diet rather than exercise. Alcohol is calorific so stopping the alcohol and watching what you eat will reduce cholesterol and weight and help your liver function. It’s good you are taking steps to make changes op.

I am so terribly shocked.
I will research a diet that will nourish my
Liver.

Loads of fruit, vegetables, lots of water, no fat. That's it. Your lover's job is to detoxify your blood so it can do the rest itself.

Good luck!

I was on the path to fucking up my liver about 10 years ago but it has recovered fully thankfully. AA was key for me! Good luck
