Bank holiday and nursery

Our DC attend nursery four days a week, usually Monday to Wednesday. Sometimes I have to change days depending on work commitments and the nursery have always agreed to this. For the week after next I was going to ask tomorrow about swapping days so that DC attends Tuesday-Friday instead as I have work commitments and need to switch days.

If has now been announced that the Monday will be a bank holiday and the nursery will close on a bank holiday anyway.

Would if be unreasonable to ask if DC can attend Tuesday to Thursday when we are paying for four days but Monday they are closed anyway.

On the other hand, fees are averaged over the year so fees do not take into account this extra bank holiday.

That should say usually attends Monday to Thursday but I was going to request Tuesday to Friday for the week that will now have a bank holiday Monday.

My work is also likely to close on the Monday but I manage my own workload so I would struggle to have another day off with DC as well as the bank holiday.

I think you need to go back to your contract.

If fees are averaged then the nursery’s costs will also be the same - they can’t just not pay staff because of a bank holiday.
