That Rock Steady music should bloody refund me

I have issues with this company!

They did a taster session at my daughters school last year. Got all the kids excited. My dd wants to join. Okay. Set up a direct debit she's really excited

Does one lesson. Then the next week on the day of her lesson get an email from RockSteady saying they weren't doing them any more.

Lots of kids upset. Parents confused. Why bother coming to the school to get everyone excited and then bugger off.

Rock steady we're saying the school had said no. The school said no that's not true. So rock steady admitted a 'miscommunication' and started up again.

This term. Direct debit goes out as usual. Kids excited. Due to start today... and get an email saying they're not doing lessons any more.

Can't get hold of anyone. But they've taken the direct debit for September and don't mention a refund anywhere just that it'll be stopped for the future.

I'm livid. For fucking around with kids like this with zero warning but also they want to keep everyone's money.

Is it unreasonable to want my money back and/or speak to someone?

Definitely not unreasonable. Sounds like you'll have to keep plugging away by phone, email, the lot to get your refund though.
Are they on Facebook or other social media? If so, complain on there.

Yes they should refund you. Have they gone into administration or something?

drinkfeck · 08/09/2022 10:36

Since found out some more info

The school don't have the space any more. The room they use is needed.

But they told rock steady months ago. So they knew it wasn't happening. But still took the money.

I've been promised a call back after emailing lots (making myself a nuisance) but I've said I want it in writing we'll get a refund and when.

But just the poor kids. It really helped my dd. She's under Sen care and really looked forward to this.

Can you claim the money back through the bank Direct Debit Guarantee?

drinkfeck · 08/09/2022 10:39

Thanks @richcouncilhousetenantfreehouse that's a great idea. I didn't think of that. Will tell the other parents too if we don't get any joy

The school have said they'll chase for refunds too if they're being shits. So that's something.

But what a crappy situation in what should be something lovely for the kids

It is shit of them.

Thought your OP concerned the early iterations of blue note, ska, two tone... Was prepared to strongly disagree.

mamabear715 · 08/09/2022 10:50

Tbh I'd be fuming with the school, too.

ThisisCollie2022 · 08/09/2022 10:55

We've had issues with rocksteady too. Frequent cancelling of lessons meant DS rarely had one. Yet they still took payment, complained when I cancelled the DD and increased the price.

I finally got hold of them and spoke to 4 people. Cancelled and received a refund yet the refund didn't cover 100% of the cancelled lessons

Gave up in the end. Not recommended at all.

We used the money to buy DS a small secondhand drum kit and some headphones instead.

Rocksteady really pissed me off!

ThisisCollie2022 · 08/09/2022 10:57

Tbh that's a bit shite of the school as well. Rocksteady used our school hall

😂❤😂

The school are going to send an email but from what I can gather it was only meant to be a year trial. The governors want the room for its main purpose which is sen use.

The hall backs onto four classrooms so not the best space for a loud rock band...!

To be fair they told rock steady months ago. So although not ideal at least we could have prepared the kids.

I'm just furious with their shit correspondence and not even mentioning a refund. Why wait till the day of the lesson? It was after drop off so couldn't even tell her on the way to school. It'll be a real shock.

Surely you'd know before 9am you haven't got a teacher going to a school?
