To think going on holidays is stressful

Lighthearted as feeling very lucky to be going away!!! But annoyed at how much washing, cleaning, organising there is to do just for a few days away, sorting money, online check in, passports etc. Got to leave early tomorrow with dogs walked, beds changed and house looking decent (dog sitter staying) and put petrol in car etc, so lots to do, DH has had all weekend to pack but is currently downstairs drinking wine, DD is not packed either but is out with her friends. I know I will be running around like a blue arsed fly in the morning. And then again when we get back. Im sure it will all be fine when we get there - first family holiday since 2018!

Yep. Totally agree. The day before our hol I was running around all day getting things sorted. Definitely worth it though.
Have a fabulous time.

Yes it’s so stressful but worth it once the journey is underway.

Softplayhooray · 04/09/2022 20:50

TBH we just had a lovely hols but soooo pleased to be back tonight, did the unpacking immediately and had a long hot shower so nothing to do now but relax...it's nice to go away but yeah a lot of kerfuffle!!

Mushroo · 04/09/2022 21:22

Why are you doing all the packing? Your DH and DD are perfectly capable of doing their own. Anything forgotten can probably be bought.

make your DH change bedding whilst you walk the dog tomorrow. Or you walk the dog and treat yourself to a coffee for the walk.

Go and join your DH with wine and get in the holiday spirit!

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · 04/09/2022 21:24

These people are adults I take it? Your DH and DD? Surely they should be doing their own packing? Or just let them go on holiday with nothing!

ShirleyJackson · 04/09/2022 21:27

I’m going tomorrow and I’m stressed to hell. I’m am anxious flyer, so I haven’t slept for a week.

I hope it’ll be worth it.

dandelionthistle · 04/09/2022 21:32

I agree (although I am a single parent to two children not yet old enough to be reliably useful!) BUT I intensely dislike when people forget the 'lucky' bit you included and start whingeing on 😂

Guy at work was full of grumbles about his (totally standard) holiday stress this summer and I was itching to say I'd gladly take his two weeks in an Italian villa off his hands if it was such a nuisance!

Same here - currently finishing off packing ready set off at 2am for airport !

YABU

You're stressed because you've left shit too late

We're always packed, boarding passes printed etc. weeks before we leave

Never had a stressful departure

Catch21 · 04/09/2022 21:36

Yes. Stressful but worth it!

BigSandyBalls2015 · 04/09/2022 21:39

Don’t do their packing! Up to them.

Angelinflipflops · 04/09/2022 21:42

Get the train

Delatron · 04/09/2022 21:47

It’s the getting the house ready for the dog sitter that’s stressful. As everything has to be super tidy and beds made up. Some things can only be done at the last minute. (Like beds unless you have a guest room).

felulageller · 04/09/2022 22:05

It's only hard because they are lazy ars*Les who are letting you do all the wifework.

Go on holiday alone next time.

If they can't get their sh** sorted leave them behind!
