Creaky bed driving me insane

We got this heavy wooden bed recently from inlaws when they downsized. Lovely solid bed, but it’s very creaky when someone moves. No creaks when you sit on it. It’s very sleep disruptive and no sex so we are both super cranky too

Is it the slats, legs? Wtf is it!!?

The legs rest firmly on the floor, no room to push in a piece of paper. DH tightened all the nuts and bolts properly.

Is it our floor? We have oak floor and inlaws had carpets.

Spray some wd40/squeeze all-purpose oil in all the joins, bolts, screws, wood touching wood etc.

You're not having sex because the bed creaks? Fuck that, get a new bed. I'd feel the ick sleeping in my in laws old bed anyway. Also there are other places to have sex by the way.

It’s not an old bed, they bought it under a year ago, used in the guest room (mostly by us).

No sex because we are conscious of the creaking and kids bedrooms are nearby.

Give the WD40 a go (on the bed, not each other).

Have sex on the floor.

My son used to have a creaky bed. I made it quieter by slipping all of the odd socks in my wash basket on the ends of each slat.

I showed DH this thread.

  1. He made arrangements for the floor. why didn’t we think of this?? Too busy with jobs, kids, life ? We just won’t dare having sex anywhere else - absolutely terrified of kids walking in. Our 6yr old twins like to walk into our bedroom for no reason
  2. he went out now looking for WD40

not that it’s of interest to anyone, but would like to clarify - there was no piv, but other forms of pleasuring involving less movement happened. No starvation here. 😂

Bookmarking because I have the same issue. Without the sex!

Ikea bet with slats. Had it about 9 years. Creaks every time I move. I've tried everything - WD40, tightening the screws, candle wax, padding, the lot. Nothing works. I suspect the bed was poorly assembled when I first got it, but redoing it would be a major job.
