What the fuck have I done to my shoulder?

I would really appreciate any help or advice

Over the last 2 hours my left shoulder has started to hurt- it’s sort of at the corner where it starts to go down and become my arm. It started like a little annoying achey pain and has got worse and now it’s actually really quite sore. It’s sort of achey when I rest it but Strangely moving my arm up down left right doesn’t seem to make it worse but breathing seems to (only the breathing out part)

I’ve no idea what I’ve done to cause this but it’s actually annoying me because it’s really hurting now! I was working with my very feisty horse earlier today (6+ hours ago) and I didn’t fall off or have any obvious shoulder injuries but he was very fresh and strong and let’s just say was throwing some shapes when I lunged and rode him. Nothing unusual though and I’ve never had shoulder pain before, and it didn’t hurt at the time so I don’t think I injured it but just mentionning in case it’s relevant.

Paracetamol and ibuprofen haven’t helped but in fairness I probably haven’t really given them long enough.

Anyone know what I can do to stop this pain? I don’t even know what I’ve done but whatever it is it’s bloody sore. There’s no bruising or swelling either.

Sounds like a frozen shoulder. Very very painful.

CalmConfident · 02/09/2022 23:01

This might sound mad…but possible it might be sign of gall stones

Pleasesendhelp · 02/09/2022 23:09

Kehr's sign?

Shoulder tip pain is a classic sign of ectopic pregnancy - usually left shoulder tip, I think.

Any chance of indigestion? But if the horse was being a pita could you have pulled a muscle. Usual hot/ cold treatment might provide relief.

Does it feel like a stitch but in the place you mentioned?

Frozen shoulder tends to build up over time in my experience.
Could it be something to do with the horse wrangling?

Left arm pain and breathing anomalies suggests possible vascular issues to me.

But I am not a medical professional so treat what I say with caution and get looked at when you can. Not all heart issues are urgent, but some are.

I imagine it’s worth a phone call to nhs direct to triage, if pain relief is not resolving it and breathing changes the intensity of the pain….

Could be a sprung rib? Especially if you've been pulled around by the horse. My dd is just getting over this - the pain was sort of deep seated under her shoulder blade and hurt to breathe. She said using the arm made no difference but was really sore if she tried holding her weight - she's a gymnast so couldn't hang on the bar for example.

Mine spooked and yanked me months ago and I'm pretty sure I've got a rotator cuff injury, which I keep pulling because you have to use your shoulder. Once injured, I'm convinced it's weaker therefore easier to re-pull.

Does the horse need more work or is he just always fresh?
