AIBU?
Uber bloody pending charges?!
Wyndolynne · 02/09/2022 14:13
I'm not well today and needed some bits to tide the kids over the weekend.
I decided to get a taxi to shops, I usually walk but like I said I'm not feeling well.
The taxi is about £4 and I had £35 in my bank.
No ubers available so I keep trying a few times.
Get a bank notification and they've took nearly £20 in pending amounts. (4 attempted tries at getting a taxi)
So now I've no fucking money to go shops until its reversed in 24/48 hours.
I was never connected to a driver!! It was just searching each time then they said they can't find anyone, try again in a few minutes
Why would they do that?!
Am I being unreasonable?

I didn't know they did that, why is it 24/48 hrs the transaction shouldn't have started if they had no driver.

I have no idea, I'm assuming it's 24/48 hours as its a holding charge and that's usually how long they're kept?

That's what I don't understand. Previously if a drivers accepted then cancelled I've gotten a temp charge
I've never had it for just trying but my DH tried at the same time for me and he has one pending of £4.50 too!!

I've had similar with their grocery delivery service. Placed an order with the last £40 in my account for a week. They cancelled the order and it took four weeks of constant pestering to get a refund. Left me in a right hole with no money left and no food. Like you, I wasn't feeling well and unable to go out.

It's so frustrating. I've deleted my uber app now. Just going to use normal taxis.
