AIBU?
To have told this mother off?

Wouldn't mind if I was told if IABU... but inspired by a recent thread. I came back from taking my DC's to one of their swimming lessons. When we came out of the centre, I saw a boy, who looked like he was around 4..no more than 5, climbing around on the roof of his mothers car. He would be climbing over, on top of the engine, and standing up on the roof (whilst the mother was inside her car chatting on the phone). I gave her one stern look and I said "he shouldn't be on there, it's dangerous). I then told the young boy ('get down! You will hurt yourself'). He obviously looked at me bewildered but obviously didn't come down from the car. The mother just gave me one dirty look and I just walked off..
I don't tend to open my mouth in public or cause scenes. I'm going through too much to worry what strangers are doing but I was just shocked at this or am I just being precious?

yanbu - if she was inside the car, he was effectively unsupervised.
don’t know why she wouldn’t be worried about the car being damaged, if not her son!!

some people need to open their eyes ,a few months back i heard a story that made me think of this.A woman couldn't be bothered to wait for the lift in a mall so took her babys pram up the escalator .The baby fell out ,thank goodness all they got was a slight bump. But some people make me think why
The only time i personally would get involved is in a situation were the child is in danger .I would have done the same thing as you but i would have told the woman first, excuse but do you realise your child's on the roof,if she encored me then i would raise my voice
Be polite first make them aware act concerned if they encore you then thats when you put your foot down

I would have said something to parent but not the child.
