To ask how your anxious school starters got on

Shamelessly posting for traffic, sorry.

DS starts school on Monday and he’s incredibly anxious about it. I am trying to stay calm and breezy whilst also acknowledging his feelings. He’s worried about not knowing anyone (although he has a handful of nursery friends going to the same school). I think it’s the change/transition he’s dreading the most; he’s a creature of habit who has never responded well to change in routine. I can’t help but wonder though how he will settle and how other similarly anxious kids have settled in after the first few weeks?

My DD(12) started today - 2nd year of secondary school and her first year with her own classroom assistant. The last couple of years have been awful and last year her attendance was 28% and she only managed two full days the whole year.

She's doing half days to start with and today went well so fingers crossed she copes this year. Her CA is lovely and she has spent some time with him already and really trusts him, which is what she needs to feel safe.
