My big ginger cat has been a bit strange all day. He has always been an outdoor cat but have recently got him a litter tray. He has been in and out of it all day but doesn't seem to be able to do much - tiny poo and a couple of small wee.
My DH found him in the bath and he had done a wee which was pink/red.
Tried to find an emergency vet but nearest is 30 miles away.
Cat is going to be 18 in a few weeks by the way and I am thinking the worst.

Sounds like a kidney infection and he needs to be seen asap by a vet for treatment.

I'd be making that 30 mile journey.

Agree, sounds like a kidney/urinary issue. Our kitty is 17 and a half and has done this on occasion. From what I can gather it's quite common for senior pusscats 😔

Needs to be seen by the vet asap

Cat was at vet first thing on Monday and had blood and urine samples taken. Had a really high temp of 104 so given intriv antibiotics and also an anti- another drug as cat was worn out joints and some pain.

She is fine now but had a really bad a really bad UTI and may have damaged her kidneys. Back in two weeks she the in-biotics are finished and will re do the tests.

Thank you all and will go and cry over my bank balance!!
