To sell the contents of our storage room

I sold my flat last year and put a large number of items into storage. This included stuff belonging to me, DP and DC.

We are finally in a position to take everything out and into our new house. We’ve been without the storage items for over a year and with the exception of beds and kitchen stuff we haven’t ‘missed’ anything, i.e. we’ve managed fine. So I’m unwilling to bring everything into the house as I think the vast majority of it is junk and we need to declutter.

I’m therefore proposing we sell what we can at a Car Boot sale. We are strapped for cash at the moment as the renovations ran awry so this would be useful. DP is aghast. Some of the items are nearly new toys his relatives gifted DC but they have not missed/remembered them at all and won't care if they are sold. I’m planning to just go ahead, at least with mine and DC’s stuff and tell him he has to put his crap into a storage facility he pays for as I don’t want it in the house.

I’d be tempted to eBay some of the smaller items like toys and any outgrown clothes etc - car boot prices are generally very low.

But YANBU - don’t let the clutter in the new house!

If it's crap, why did you keep it and pay to store it?

Why do you get the only say on what gets taken back to the house? Are you the sole owner? Do you think it's ok for your DP to be treated like his possessions and his opinions don't matter?

YANBU. Just U if you do his stuff without his agreement, but him paying to store his own stuff is a good option!

Offer it to 'Storage Wars'
