To be sick of these charity naked calendars?

Our local gardening club, of which I'm a very inactive member, does a few things to raise a bit of money every year. The last couple of years they've belatedly discovered naked calendars and obviously see it as a good money spinner, or at least better than some of the other naff ideas they've done!

I opted out of the first one but I did agree to do their 2nd one. Now, I was under the impression it was going to be very much covered up with 'props' and just a bit suggestive but I was shocked by just how revealing it is. I grinned and bared it, literally, but full-on naked bum shots and side-boob shots were a bit much for me considering it's on display to everyone even if they don't buy it and I felt a bit shy about the whole thing!

They're now drumming up volunteers for another one and I've been expected to, rather than asked to, do it again. I haven't said yes or no to them yet but feel I'm going to decline this time.

Haven't these been done to death and a bit cringy or am I being overly self conscious or prudish and should just get on with it?

I prefer looking at the Countryfile calendar personally

You've done your bit, don't let anyone pressure you into doing another.
A novelty naked calender is probably fun as a one off, but year after year it stops being fun and novelty.

If I'd known how revealing it was I wouldn't have been so brave! The previous one I opted out of showed basically nothing. Plant pots covering boobs and shrubs covering bums etc but the one I decided to do, to be community spirited, was pretty much just a nude photoshoot!!

Exactly my point - every year? That's killing the fun and people will surely lose interest.

I think I'll just ask if it's going to be a little less revealing than last time and base my decision on that. Some cheeky but modest shots will be okay but I'm not baring my bum again!

Why don't you suggest to the organiser that they run a competition next year to get local gardeners to submit photographs, they can pay to enter and the winners get a bottle of something and get to see their photos on the calendar. Or ask the infant school to see if the kids will draw pictures of flowers? You would guarantee all parents would buy a calendar.

How many people are in this gardening club? Surely when you've seen Maureen's side boob, and Toms arse crack once, you've seen it.. not sure it warrants a yearly rendition.

@PutinIsAWarCriminal I'll make that suggestion, I like the idea of that! They've got their heart set on the naked calendar again this year but I'll try and steer them in a different direction for next time. Unless they end up selling bundles of these damn calendars again in which case I can't imagine they'll want to change a winning formula! It's only women too, even though there are male members, which doesn't seem quite right either!

Exactly! It'll be all pretty much the same people again! I think that's why the pushed the boundaries a bit more with the last one to make it different to the previous so god knows what they might expect us to do this time! 😂

Point out it is titillating womens bodies and making them pieces of meat and devaluing them and that you see violence against women as a real problem and wondered if They saw coercing women to go naked or assuming they will do it without even asking for consent as part of the problem

Who on earth is buying them? And you are right it is sexist if they only ask women. I would just refuse.

Ugh. Who wants to see a practically naked picture of Jan from the post office or Steve from the residents association, let alone hang it on their wall. It sounds stupid and embarrassing.

No one wants these. How about a picture of part of your garden and a good gardening tip for the the month? Something that actually shows the knowledge you all have rather than your bums.

I think it's purely about raising as much money as they can and they've decided, or discovered, that these naked calendars sell better than more traditional shots of some nice gardens, fruit & veg or flowers! I'm not sure how many they sold but I think they did quite well. Having them on display in the local shop was the most embarrassing part as they're just hanging there for people to flick through.
I think I'm going to give them an ultimatum - I'll do it again if they include the male members this time! (pun not intended!)

Presumably you wouldn’t get your arse out on an OnlyFans page and send the gardening club the money? It’s both old hat and degrading.

Oh I may have misunderstood - the gardening club raises money for a charity, not themselves?

@Testina It's for charities of their choice plus some of the proceeds go to equipment but it's main just for donations. It's a nice thing to do and I'm happy to be charitable - just don't necessarily want to be naked to be nice!

@Allthegoodnamesarechosen Yes quite. Absolutely no explanation of why only the female members do it but I'd made the decision to challenge that and encourage the other's to do the same and say we'll only do it if the male members get their cucumbers out.

Yeah the first shoot sounded okay but the second too much, and now you've said female only.. Fuck no. Men being sleazy yet again. Please ask why no men!?
