Is there any help to get back to work if not on benefits

I am unemployed. I was a SAHM and want to get back into work now youngest is going to school. Obviously I am making applications and have a work history and CV and am registering with agencies.

I just wondered if there are any schemes to help me train or help me with finding work as there are for those on benefits? I am not in receipt of benefits because my husband works full-time.

I know it's a longshot, and I've already self-referred to something, but just thought I'd take a stab to see if anyone had any secrets they could share, thanks.

I'm in the northwest and don't drive.

depends what field. I’m sure if you have a rough idea you could find some initiatives out there.

I did a one year course at my local college which updated all my office and computer skills and gave qualifications which I was thencc able to put in my cv and get an office job.

The course was free and it was geared at parents with children in school so 9.30 to 2.30 3 days a week it was brilliant maybe look for something similar at your local college

If you browse the threads on the Mature study and retraining board, here:

you’ll find links to various organisations for women returners.

If you’ve been away from work for a long time taking a course or gaining a new qualification is likely to be highly beneficial in improving your job prospects.
