Can anyone recommend a reliable, reasonable airport transfer for 2 adults and one 5yr old with hand luggage only that doesn't cost an arm and a leg?

That's quite a distance so any taxi will cost loads. Coach or train would likely be cheaper.

Try Five Star, based in Windsor. We used them regularly to make the journey from Windsor to Luton. Reasonably priced, although this was a few years ago.

It is (a) not only a fair distance but (b) along one of the busiest routes in the country so likely to take a long time m1/m25/m4. Pay the going rate or fly to Heathrow which is closer (but presumably flights cost more).

Or instead of a cab use public transport.

Did you mean to write Luton, or Heathrow?
Luton Airport is a long old way from Legoland!

Cookerhood · 30/08/2022 22:11

It's getting on for 50 miles & could take ages depending on the time of day. Uber would possibly be your cheapest bet. Luton charges by the minute for pick up so if your plans is delayed it could cost you a fortune. Is there a coach from Luton to Heathrow? You could then get from Heathrow to Windsor quite easily, but tbh, it may not be that much cheaper!
Hire car?

TooMuchToDoTooLittleInclination · 30/08/2022 22:20

How much have you been quoted?

Invisimamma · 30/08/2022 22:24

Heathrow is the airport closest to Legoland.

Luton is 40miles away and will take over an hour. An Uber or similar can is likely to cost around £80.

You could get a train or coach to Paddington and then a train to Slough and then Uber to Legoland, that will take about 2hrs and probably just as expensive to be honest. It's not a well connected route. When we did we paid the extra to fly to Heathrow because the travel from Luton was about the same, plus the time it takes it's just not worth the hassle.

Watford to Heathrow is about 80 so I'd say luton will be even more with petrol prices. Can you hire a car for a day?

Glorieta · 30/08/2022 22:50

Thanks all
Flights are already booked as Heathrow prices were coming in at £200 per person..eek with terrible flight times.

Quotes are currently ranging from £120 to a whopping £350 but thats through larger transfer companies so wondered about local taxi firms or uber.

Hire care not possible as both adults non drivers for medical reasons
