To not be able to calm down?!

I’ve been referred under the two week rule for nipple discharge (not breastfeeding or pregnant) from one breast. I’m already freaking out about this but the panic of the two week wait is overwhelming and I can’t calm down. Feel like I’m always panicking and can’t breathe properly.

how can I be calm about this?

Don't try and be calm, you are allowed to panic, cry, be overwhelmed, way better to just acknowledge this is a scary time and just let the feelings wash over you.

Have you got a trusted friend or relative where you can just be honest with them and say your scared.

If you don't, (and I haven't) then I find talking through the whole situation to myself in the mirror, silly as it sounds, helps to just get it out.

I’ve spoken to DH but he is far too relaxed about things like this.
I keep googling which isn’t helping!

Stop googling
It is natural to think of the worst case scenario
However, fretting isn't going to change anything
Two weeks won't have impact if it is an unwelcome visitor.
Breast cancer is very survivable. I'm still here!

Oh and either Weleda stress spray or Bach rescue remedies are helpful. Also displacement activities - I did loads of sorting and gardening. I hate doing both! Walking and exercise will help get rid of adrenalin.

There is absolutely no empathy in a search engine, when I got overwhelmed, I called the macmillan advice line, I think the first time I called I just froze, was silent for a bit and burst into tears, but they were so incredibly calm and kind.
