Hi I'm in a housing association house
Friday was meant to be the start of new kitchen and house rewire.
I was given a sheet with dates on
Friday was meant to be floor protection down -nobody turned up
Rang site manager who said "oh yeah we are running behind,be there Tuesday 8am"
It's now Tuesday and nobody is here at 10am
Kitchen was meant to be ripped out.
I need to go to work.
Also nobody mentioned the option of my stuff going into storage so everything is packed up and they haven't even began.

I need to go to work
Do I leave note on door saying door open please lock and push key through when complete ?
I've tried ringing site manager and no response or reply to texts
It's making me so stressed

No you should not leave your house unlocked.
It would void any insurance cover you may have and you could end up with a squatter.

The site manager can call you and send someone to collect the keys from your job if they need to start the job today.

What's to stop anyone else walking into your house if the workmen dont turn up again?
There's no way I'd leave a note on my door telling all and sundry that my house was unlocked.
Could you leave a key with a neighbour?

I'm already over a hour late for work and my place of work is a hours drive so no chance they will drive for my keys.

I'd lock the door and leave a note for them with your number on explaining that as they are now 5 days late they will have to contact and arrange access with you at your convenience.
Don't leave it unlocked anyone could get in and you'd not have a leg to stand on.

This.

It's always the same. They just expect you to be available and don't really consider that people need to work.

Reschedule with them. It's not working for you currently.

The plan was as soon as they arrived at 8am To leave for work and just tell them to lock up and pop key through letterbox
Site manager said everyone does that as they like the house empty to get on with it
We can't be home for rewire either have to be out of property

Left key with site manager
Honestly they must think people don't have jobs and can just sit around and wait for them
