How to fix my teeth?

Fixmyteethpls · 29/08/2022 21:35

They stick out so much! I’ve had braces to straighten them (I had the elastic bands too) and I don’t have buck teeth when I close my mouth, but they stick out and look terrible when I talk and smile.

is it an overbite?

Is there any hope for them and how I can fix my teeth?

See an orthodontist. Don’t rely on a general dentist for something like this and spend some time researching the best ortho in your area. It’s thoroughly worth it to get the right opinions and they’ll have the 3D scan equipment to fully understand the options, what may be possible and so on.

I don’t think they do stick out.
Everyones top teeth go over their bottom ones. I think you are just focusing on them and thinking the stick out more than they do.
I just took a picture of mine so I could check & compare. Honestly, yours look fine to me and are lovely and white.

Invisalign is amazing. Most orthodontists also offer interest free credit too if needed

Maybe you have prognathia. Without a photo of the side of your face it's hard to tell. But it needs to be fixed via the jaw rather than the teeth. Your teeth themselves look lovely btw

I say this gently... your teeth look beautiful. I wonder if this is something you're focusing on which other people simply wouldn't notice?

LetItGoHome · 29/08/2022 22:06

They look lovely to me. There is a slight over bite by the looks of things but I doubt anyone but you would notice.

I would have thought it was a jaw issue with an overbite anyway rather than teeth which is a whole different thing. Your teeth look perfectly straight.

I knew someone who had surgery to correct an overbite, or could have been underbite when I was a child. But it was a pretty nasty operation which involved wiring the jaw so he couldn't use it for a few weeks after whilst it all healed in the correct position. He had it done as it was affecting how he ate so it wasn't for cosmetic reasons.

Your teeth look beautiful, I am very jealous!

Rather than asking Mumsnet I would consult a specialist

Bluelightbaby · 29/08/2022 22:10

Your teeth are straight, in line and are as far back as they need to be. You have a (mild) over bite. This is jaw related not teeth !
speak to an orthodontist but think it looks perfectly fine and not worth possible jaw surgery over

Tigofigo · 29/08/2022 22:12

Your teeth look fab to me. White, straight and uniform. You MAY have the slightest overbite / overjet but they do NOT stick out at all noticeably!

For context, the overjet width between my bottom and top teeth is about 12mm. Yours looks less than half that. I also have an open bite and my only option for alignment is jaw surgery which I don't want. I've made peace with my slightly dodgy teeth, they do the job in terms of allowing me to eat and I'm grateful for that.
