Is Brighton full of UKIP voters?

I thought it was liberal and lots of music and art for my dd going to uni but my brother who moved down to Worthing which is near by said it's full of ukip voters. Can that be correct?

I doubt it. It’s the place that elected a Green MP.

I wouldn’t be surprised if the smaller towns and villages have some people voting UKIP. Someone on here described Brighton and Hove as a dot of green and red in a sea of blue.

titchy · 29/08/2022 20:38

Worthing's probably full of UKIPers, Brighton absolutely not!

Samcro · 29/08/2022 20:39

Rubbish

Annieisalright · 29/08/2022 20:39

Why not have a look at the previous election results instead of posting on here?

SeasonFinale · 29/08/2022 20:39

Worthing has a very different demographic to Brighton.

CharlotteSt · 29/08/2022 20:40

Worthing maybe (one of God's South Coast waiting rooms), Brighton absolutely not.

They may be close(ish) geographically but politically they are world's apart.

MrsTerryPratchett · 29/08/2022 20:40

Some experts are now saying Brighton and Worthing are different places.

CloseYourEyesAndSee · 29/08/2022 20:40

Worthing isn't Brighton
what a stupid question
worthing has a Tory MP and had a lot of UKIP voters when UKIP was a thing. Brighton has a green MP and did not.

Sparklesocks · 29/08/2022 20:41

I doubt it. It’s usually a Green/labour constituency isn’t it? UKIP got 0.3% of the vote in the last GE.

Worthing isn't god's waiting room any more 😆 but it's still fairly right of centre politically on the whole

Samcro · 29/08/2022 20:41

My mp is labour and I’m Brighton

kimchifox · 29/08/2022 20:42

Good God no. Brighton is famously an island of red and green in a sea of blue. Worthing is a completely different town!!

😂

ShowOfHands · 29/08/2022 20:43

I was very amused when these people stood there...

whatshouldIdo2022 · 29/08/2022 20:49

I believe Worthing now has a Labour run council..lots of people move out of Brighton to Worthing which may have helped with that shift. I've lived in both and would say Worthing has its fair share of Brexit voting right wing idiots, Brighton not so much.

Justanotherlurker · 29/08/2022 20:50

Not a chance, they are the opposite side of the lacking critical thinking/ unedcuated crowd as they generally vote green.

TimeFlysWhenYoureHavingRum · 29/08/2022 20:52

Seeing as UKIP no longer exist as a political party it seems unlikely many people ANYWHERE will be voting for them.
Also yabu!

Camomila · 29/08/2022 20:53

Worthing is gradually getting more liberal as more young people move there because they're priced out of Brighton.

ddl1 · 29/08/2022 20:56

No. Brighton is a progressive city, with the country's ONLY Green MP. They voted Remain by a large majority. Worthing, by contrast, voted Leave; and has a Tory MP. I'd be surprised if even Worthing was full of UKIP voters (Tories, yes); but I don't know Worthing very well. Anyway, Brighton definitely isn't.

ddl1 · 29/08/2022 20:59

PS. UKIP is now, I think, called Reform UK, unless it's changed names yet again when I wasn't looking. It was called the Brexit Party at one point,

monso · 29/08/2022 21:01

Ok thanks!! I think he's trying to put her off

OP posts:
Thistleinthenight · 29/08/2022 21:07

UKIP are nowhere any more. Why would they be, given the competition they have in the current government?

monso · 29/08/2022 21:08

I meant the type of people who voted UKIP really. Sorry for getting the name of the current party wrong

LittleBearPad · 29/08/2022 21:08

Worthing is a very different place to Brightot

Scianel · 29/08/2022 21:11

Um, they're two different places?
