DH adrenaline type hobbies

DH bikes a couple of times a week amongst other hobbies inc. sports coach and boxing. We have primary aged DC. I WFH and he does too. He came off the bike yesterday and injured himself and it's scared me that as an older parent in his early 40's, he needs to slow down a bit but I feel like I'm nagging. He is far more adventurous than me! Is anyone else's partner always on the go with stuff like this?

No, but I am. I mountain bike, skateboard and weightlift.

(I really dislike this notion that only men do 'dangerous, time consuming hobbies'. Women and mothers do them too.)

My DH has never mentioned it. We're both of the belief you should enjoy life and not worry about what might happen. You drive, I assume, and don't avoid doing that due to risk of car accidents.

When you said adrenaline type hobbies I thought you might mean kite surfing, base jumping etc (things that can be very dangerous). What he does seems like stuff which keeps him busy and might be too much if you are not getting time to yourself and he's not pulling his weight, but isn't necessarily dangerous. Coming off your bike is bad luck and potentially very dangerous but uncommon. I do sport where I might get injured.
I absolutely won't give this up because I have a family because I love it. I try to play at a lower level nowadays and within myself. My husband also has these type of hobbies. It's just what we enjoy.

You are overreacting. And early 40s with primary school children is not exactly an old parent.

Assuming you mean some type of standard cycling as opposed to say, racing sports bikes, then it does sound like you are overreacting a bit. Are you a bit younger OP, because early 40s doesn't sound particularly 'older' for those type of hobbies?

Both DH and I have hobbies like this & I guess you would also class us as older 😂. We operate within our capabilities and don't take silly risks. For me it's worth it.
