Just 1 maggot?? Help!!

Just found what im pretty sure is a maggot crawling up the tiles in the kitchen. Is it possible to have just 1? I always thought if there's 1 there must be lots. I'm freaking out now. I have looked and can't find any more. Do I need to look more? My house is fairly clean. There's no food in the bin or left out or anything like that. There's often breadcrumbs under the table if I don't sweep after breakfast and the cats have biscuits out alll day but their meat is removed and the area cleaned about an hour after its put down every evening. My bathroom is clean and the kitchen is clean (except for crumbs)
The kitchen bin has been checked, and the food waste bin. Both clear. What do I do now?
Dh did bring in a load of pears off the tree in the garden yesterday (which I've just stuck back outside now in a panic!) Could that be the source or do I probably gave an infestation? 😭

Maggots don't climb on tiles. Was it a caterpillar? Some can look like plain old maggots

Or rather cloth moth larvae thingy

I dunno. Looks like a maggot to me. I've tried to attach a pic. Not sure if it worked?

Very likely the pears. It might have just been one mature enough to leave the pear (I have just picked about 30 plums, a few of which had immature maggots inside). I don't expect you have an infestation of them in your house somewhere.

That doesn’t look like a maggot does it? Or maybe I’m wrong!

mrsjoyfulprizeforraffiawork · 29/08/2022 10:37

Just looked up pear coddling moth larva. It does look the same.

Faciadipasta · 29/08/2022 10:38

Oh god I hope you're right. I'm irrationally scared of the horrible little crawly bastards.

That looks very similar to the creature that was in the middle of the plum I bit into a few days ago. I picked it off our tree so could blame no-one but myself for not checking for puncture holes. Do you have any over ripe fruit lying around?

Bubblebubblebah · 29/08/2022 11:27

Yeah I think it's a moth larvae. There might be few more around so keep an eye
