Is it something I did?

So I went to a bbq a few weeks ago and met DH’s work pals for the first time. He said he really got on with one of the women, she has a daughter same age as ours. DH said she hasn’t spoke to him much at all since she met me, is it something I did? I didn’t get drunk or anything as we took the kids so it isn’t something I said I don’t think?

No one can have a clue. Have you asked him?

Kilodam · 28/08/2022 20:33

Yeh, he was the one that mentioned that she doesn’t speak to him much at the office anymore? Odd?

I had that once, it turned out she fancied my DP and once she saw us together she backed off. Whether it was because she felt bad or saw she didn't stand a chance I don't know.

Barnybrown · 28/08/2022 20:36

How can anyone possibly know ! It may be nothing to do with the BBQ - she may have her own shit going on or he may have done something at work to annoy her. If he wants to know the only way to find out is to ask her ! But frankly I wouldn’t make a drama out of it - he should just keep being friendly and professional and don’t over think it

Is this a roundabout way of saying you think she fancies your husband?

Twawmyarse · 28/08/2022 20:42

Maybe she fancies him but now she's met you it's become a bit "close to home" so she's backed off?

Your dh seems a bit over invested though? My dh wouldn't even think to mention it I don't think - your dh sounds like he's making a bit of a big deal over nothing?

chillipenguin · 28/08/2022 20:46

Why does it matter?

Marmalady75 · 28/08/2022 20:47

I’d agree with PP that she fancied him and has been scared off.

Creepymanonagoatfarm · 28/08/2022 20:50

I agree. She thought she had a chance. And now she has met you she has seen sense..

Wonnle · 28/08/2022 21:21

How would anyone on here know unless they were at this bbq with you

Or your husband thinks she fancies him.
Why is he going on about it anyway? Is he making you think you’ve done something?

ddl1 · 28/08/2022 21:59

Maybe it's just because he has a wife. It may not even be that she fancies him; she might just be nervous that he or others might interpret ordinary friendliness that way.

gonutkin · 28/08/2022 22:02

My first thought was that she fancied him and has backed off because she's jealous/upset that you guys are happy (I assume your happy)

I wasn't going to suggest it but saw that a lot of other comments have said the same thing. Personally if I was in your situation this is what I would think it was, however it could be something completely random, maybe she will bring it up with your DP one day and you'll know x
