I have 2 children. Both under 5 Altho one is due to start reception very soon

My aibu is are we watching too much tv?

I work part time 3 days a week and on those days I think it's a lot of tv etc Altho of course I can't be sure. On my time off I always do stuff with them take them to soft play or to the playground or other activities. But it can get expensive so out of my 4 days at home with them not working, prob 1 or 2 days are at home lazing around and as they get up quite early I tend to have the tv on until about 10ish. Is this terrible? Cos early mornings weather hasn't been too nice to go out and s as Altho plenty to do at home they don't always want to

So is it too much tv? My reasoning is that it's the summer holidays and soon big one will be at school 6 hours a day snd younger one will be at nursery

I honestly wouldn't panic about it, it would be lovely if we could all summon our inner Julie Andrews and have the children making clothes from curtains, whistling as they tidy the kitchen and making home-made salt dough creations....it's just not realistic. You are able to judge with your gut whether or not your children are stimulate, and there is lots of evidence that pre-school tv shows can actually stimulate understanding of numbers, language and even social behaviour (e.g. Bluey, Numberblocks.) In the years before television, people worried about young people having too much access to poetry- proof that there has always been something which is considered a bad habit for children.

Ds gets up around 730 and goes to bed 730 so 12 hours. I'd say he watch's couple hours tv and couple hours on switch plus maybe an hour playing games on iPad. We also get out walking dog and will do an activity like park, we play games and read books.
