To track DS's(20) friends down on social media?

DS is at Reading festival. Someone has just called me to say they've found DS's phone on the floor and have handed it in.
I'm not even sure who DS has gone with, but would recognise his friends names.

AIBU to look on Instagram and ask his friends if they are there with him?

Absolutely yes, I'd be trying to contact her friends she was with to tell her the news/ she must be worried about her phone

So I stalked down 2 of his friends - his tenancy agreement has all their phone numbers on it! and got hold of DS. Unfortunately they'd just left, so he's got to go back to Reading today to collect it. (Reading actually called me at 1:30am to tell me it was now at Lost property).
Thank heavens he'd done the emergency contact on his phone!
