We put keys in foil lined bags but I have seen proper leather type key cases that don’t allow the signal out

Do you mean so that the thieves can't stand outside your house and open your car doors ?

We keep our keys in a metal cash box.
You can buy special Faraday pouches, but you'd have to buy them for the keys to every car (and the spare keys too presumably) so we find it easiest to just bung them all in a metal cash box.

get a faraday box off amazon. Small enough to sit on a radiator shelf etc etc. ours came with two pouches, so can use them when out/holiday etc.

The thing is to use the device to protect your keys/car. The number of people I know who have burglar alarms fitted to their homes and don't use them is incredible.

Btw - crooks most often steal high end Mercs /AGG variants, BMW/M series and large newish SUV's and high-end landrover - almost always less than a year old.
Often stolen to requirments.

We have faraday pouches

Apparently putting your keys in the microwave works.

Faraday pouches

In the microwave works too as it's like a faraday cage. Totally didn't need to do this when on holiday recently and DH forgot his faraday pouch 🤦‍♀️

I have faraday pouches for both my keys and the spare. About a tenner on Amazon. They work as I’ve sat in my car with the keys in a pouch and tried starting my engine ‘no key detected’.

Yep ☹️We learned the hard way when my parents came to visit us from Germany in their brand new SUV (not even six months old) and parked it outside my house. One morning we woke up and it was gone. Police not interested at all(!!). Thankfully insurance paid out!

But they also steal "ordinary" cars to blend in whilst they are cruising around stealing catalytic converters.

They also just wander around residential roads opening car after car and taking what they can find from the car - quite profitable over a couple of hours even if it doesn't seem like a lot from an individual car.
