Advice - feeling paranoid

Sorry if I am posting in the wrong place just looking for any advice....

I am a single mum and have a 2yo and 6yo, tonight my phone died and I didn’t turn it back on for a couple of hours, when I charged it I had a missed call from a number I have previously saved as Who? so I have obviously at some point (don’t know when) had a missed call from this number before!
I tried to call the number back twice the first time it rang until voicemail and the second time it rang once before voicemail which I think means the caller has blocked me but now I’m worried and paranoid about who could of called and then suddenly decided to block me. It seems random to have a missed call from a company at 7.55 at night so maybe it isn’t a co? Can anyone reassure me that this isn’t the big deal my head is making it out to be!

It will be a random call centre, not even necessarily in the UK. Just block the number. I get random mobile numbers calling me and they either hang up as soon as I answer or they have some set script about car accidents, credit card insurance, etc. They all get blocked.

Could you text the number and ask who it is and why they’re calling you? And if it’s a landline number, you could try Googling to see if you can find out who it is.

Google the number

Annieisalright · 27/08/2022 22:55

Why would it be a big deal?

Just google the bloody number

I agree that it's a call centre trying to drum up business. I get them all the time and the same number often comes up. That's when I block them. Advise you to do the same and put it out of your mind. They're a pita tbh.

I’ve googled and nothing came up. I’m not so worried if it was a random one time thing but the numbers saved in my phone so they’ve called me in the past. I don’t like unknown numbers especially as live on my own with my kids so makes me jump to conclusions.

Have you ever sought help with this?

As this level of paranoia over a missed call is a little concerning
