AIBU to feel quite depressed about world events

I’ve probably always been a bit more sensitive than the average person but since having kids I feel like this has become much more pronounced and having kids also coincided with things like covid I suppose.

i avoid watching or reading the news because I find it so hard to not get upset by it. All of it seems to get me down…war, climate / environmental issues, murders etc. i feel like things look quite hopeless in the world right now and I worry about the world my kids will be left with.

i know it’s not logical to worry about these things because I can’t really do much about them except my own personal contribution of being environmentally responsible and trying to help where possible, like we have taken some Ukrainian refugees in. But I feel on a global scale things are not good…

I feel like the average the person doesn’t worry about this stuff at all / half as much!

I can’t say you’re being unreasonable because you’re entitled to your feelings, but the world has been on the brink of disaster for over a hundred years. In my lifetime: Vietnam, Riots, 9/11, Gulf Wars, Cold War, Israel/Palestine, massive inflation in the 70s, queues for petrol, increase in violence and right wing beliefs…..

I'd say the average person doesn't feel this way so yes you're somewhat sensitive

But that's ok
