Am I over sensitive

My teen just started in senior school, I bumped into another parent today and she asked if everyone knew childs name and commented they usually know the loud ones…my child has autism and is doing great. Maybe I’m thinking about it to much. Sorry just had to get it off chest.

Erm? Can't tell if you're over sensitive when your post makes 0 sense

DiscoBadgers · 27/08/2022 21:17

Not sure what you’re trying to say - can you rephrase?

purpletear · 27/08/2022 22:27

Sorry didn’t explain it very well, I was a bit upset earlier. The other parent was suggesting that my childs name would be remembered as a “loud children” by the teachers on the 1st day in the new school. My child does talk in a slightly loud voice but is well mannered and polite. She suggested her child was quiet so would just blend in. She told me that she asked her child if any names stuck out like ….. and named my child.

Well it's truthful

The loud children will be noticed more by teachers and peers due to how ears work

You might need to develop a thicker skin if he is just starting school as there will be a lot to come

She doesn't sound like a very nice woman at all. I'd avoid her. Your DC sounds lovely.

MrsPinkSky · 27/08/2022 22:35

It's possible to be well mannered and polite and still be remembered for being loud.

I feel like I've just described my sister 😂

girlmom21 · 27/08/2022 22:42

I think she doesn't actually mean loud, she means the children who aren't like hers, who don't just fade into the background.

Purpleforthewin · 27/08/2022 22:46

Sounds like she is deliberating trying to goad you.

purpletear · 27/08/2022 22:53

Yes a thicker skin needed on my part. Just felt the child has overcome so many obstacles and is doing so well that there was no need for the other parent to point it out or ask her child if there was anyone that stood out.

It's a very normal question to ask a child whether any children stood out in class

Especially after first days at school

Surtsey · 27/08/2022 22:59

One good thing about secondary school is that you no longer need to have anything to do with other parents any more.

Is it? I think its an extraordinary thing to ask a child about their classmates.

How do you know her DC sounds lovely? She hasn’t said anything about them!
