Kids next door and doing my head in!

I know IABU. They're just kids.

But every morning at 8am their mum let's them out into the garden and they are SO loud. They have a squeaky trampoline, and a really squeaky swing set. But they just scream and shout and bicker on top lung volume. Then the mum sticks her head out of the door to shout at them to tell them to be quiet which just adds to the noise 😂

Its nice that they're playing out and I would do the same if mine were little, they have every right to play in their garden, but honestly it's relentless.

I can't say anything as she's a single mum to 6 and 2 of them have SEN. Think it's the 2 littlest that are so loud in the garden. There's also a language barrier so I wouldn't wnat her to think I was mad at her or for her to stop letting them play out.

I'd shut my window but it's been roasting.

Also doesn't help that I've not been sleeping well at night but hitting a real deep sleep at like 4/5am to be woken at 8am by the kids when I could stay asleep till about 10!

This is just a vent cause I'm so tired this morning 😂😂😞 Just wish I could ask them to keep it down a bit but I don't think they would.

Argh 😴

Offer to lend her a can of WD40 and it’ll eliminate at least some of the problem!

DH helps out with odd jobs around the garden I keep telling him to pop over and try and stop the squeaking!

Could you ask for 8.30 at the weekends or even 9am? How much you would appreciate it and turn up with the can of WD40?

YANBU but it's not likely to stop! Get some good earplugs or white noise and headphones.
If I had 6 kids, I'd be turfing them out of the house too.

vroom321 · 27/08/2022 09:51

Doesn't help but at least she is acknowledging the noise by asking them to be quiet.

I was considering earplugs but by the time I hear them I'm already wide awake and I wouldn't want to have them in all night incase my own kids/dogs need me and I can't hear.

They're really lovely kids, very funny and sweet. They just a volume adjustment 😂

This was also me this morning, I feel your pain OP.

This is more common with large families, maybe because parents feel more entitled to throw the kids outside because they’ve inexplicably decided to have too many of them and can’t bear the noise in their own houses. I live near three families with 4-6 kids each and I’ve considered seeing if the Goblin King would turn up and take them all away. Sadly I think even he’d refuse.

Honestly I'd wear ear plugs. I wear them every night and never fail to hear my own kids but if something not related to my kids distrubs me, I just push them in a bit further and back off the dream land I go 😀 worth it!

Also school holidays will be done soon so at least it'll just be weekends and not every single day 🫣
