People say you can take a pregnancy test 14 days post ovulation . Is this true for anyone ?

I have a 40 day cycle .

For me , at 14 dpo , I am still 6 days before my period !!!

I am having really off cramps so am wondering if I am pregnant but I got a BFN at 14 dpo so think I can’t be pregnant .

Help !

My cycles were 38 days. I did not test until I was 7 days late for AF. I think I was too scared of a BFN so kept putting off. I convinced myself that if I tested too early it was bad luck. I’m now 16 weeks pregnant with my son. BTW I had AF cramps when period was due so that’s another reason I didn’t take the test. I also had sore boobs and I always get that before AF so definitely thought I was out that month. Good luck

It’s unlikely that your luteal phase lasts 20 days. It’s 14 days usually, or a bit less. So if you’re 6 days away from af, you’re more like 8dpo and therefore not out.

How are you tracking ovulation?

If you're using very sensitive tests (like FRER 6 days early) any BFN after 12dpo is very likely to be a true negative.

But I echo the above poster, a luteal phase wouldn't normally be this long.

On my 35-42 day cycles my period always started 14 days DPO. This cycle was 31 days and again exactly 14 days DPO. I always tested + for pregnancy a few days before I was due.
