To ask if you've felt worse after the osteopath?

I've been going to the same osteopath for years. Once 2 years ago with acute back pain.
It's happened again and went yesterday. I felt so much better after and started doing the exercises same as last time. Yet this morning I was in agony. Could barely walk. Had to be helped by DH in the bathroom.
I've taken co-codamol with paracetamol and am a lot better. Just dreading it wearing off.
Is it normal to feel so much worse?
I suppose I could ring and ask? Just thought I'd ask for anyone's experience.

I always felt worse the day after treatment but not to the level you describe - more like extreme stiffness and soreness.

I go to the "massage" kind of osteopath rather than a "cracker"

CuriousMama · 26/08/2022 14:58

Yes it's massage. Didn't hurt. He's amazing.
I'm just worried it's something serious.

It's quite normal to feel a bit worse for wear for a day or two, but if something doesn't feel right, contact your osteo and ask. Mine, I know would rather you ask, so he can help.

I'd give him a call. Like you I felt fabulous just after treatment but then stiffened up after (and got spectacularly grumpy with it!)

PinkPlantCase · 26/08/2022 15:06

It is normal to feel worse for a day or so but then better.

Give them a call, they’ll probably squeeze you in to have a feel a check how you are

i usually feel worse for 2 days after then much improved. i find a hot soak in bath really helps. but what you are describing sounds a bit worse than my usual aches after so yes i’d ring.

CuriousMama · 26/08/2022 16:09

Thanks all. It's a lot better now. Even managed some chores. DH has taken the dgss out I was looking forward to going. They're staying over. Dgs who's 6 said he's going to look after me when he gets back 🥰

I always used to feel terrible the day after - like I had whiplash. Three days after I felt amazing. My chiropractor used the ‘activator method’ where he prodded me with a stick, it was so gentle I could not believe it made such a difference!

I have more energy suddenly. Very strange but I'll take it 🙂
