To chase up job application

Applied online for my dream job. It said closing date was 15/8 & that all applicants would be informed via email if successful or not. I've not heard anything yet.. should I call & enquire or would you give it more time? Aware it's summer which might be holding things up.. & I did receive an email confirming application had been received.. HR professionals, would an applicant directly chasing up annoy you or impress you?!

I wouldn’t chase up full stop - and definitely not after such a short amount of time!

I agree with PP. 15/8 was only just over a week ago, I'd at least give it some more time if I was going to chase at all.

It definitely wouldn't impress me. It might not annoy me, but chasing it up would have no bearing on whether you got the job. If they want to interview you, you'll hear from them. Don't chase it.

Too early to chase, give it at least another week.

Thanks all - I will take heed & sit tight!

Update.. Almost a month ago I sent a quick email asking about the recruitment timeline as I wasn't sure whether to cast my net wider. I was told they'd be in touch but had been inundated with responses. Ad is still live online, closing date gone and still no word from them. Tbh it's put me off the role as either they're completely disorganised or there isn't really a specific role they need to fill.. very frustrating!
