Finding it hard as the temp

I started a temp job 10months ago. It was a more senior position and left a job with lots of work friends to get on in my career.

Im just finding it hard being the temp in the office and i feel quite lonely. I don't have anyones mobile number even after i gave mine out long time back. All the staff have known each other for years and have each others numbers and constantly talk about what they see on each others social media and trips out. I have lunch on my own. I feel im at arms length all the time. Probably sounds a bit pathetic but its got me down. Ill be looking for a new job soon anyway. Im being aibu arent I?

I've worked as an interim for twenty+ years - it can be quite lonely, especially if you're in a senior or trouble shooting role.
Value yourself more - you're there as an Interim manager/whatever, not "the temp".
And build up your professional networks outside work, you'll always be a bit of an outsider in the workplace.
Over the years I've used an external coach/mentor in partticularly difficult roles. Assuming that you're self employed or working through your own company, you can set the cost agaisnt tax, and it can give a vital sounding board - and maintain your sanity.

Do you chat to them 1:1 and ask about their day? As someone if they want to go out for lunch, join in conversations etc?

it isn’t easy when it’s an established team but that doesnt mean it isn’t possible

Thank you I appreciate this advice especially about getting a coach.

Yes, I make conversations and ask about them but they arent interested in me. Its one of those things.
