TMI warning - discharge chat! Posted this already in health section but v quiet over there.

I had to stop breastfeeding my 9month baby about 3 weeks ago and now I'm starting to get period symptoms. I'm going on holiday for a wedding in three days and trying to calculate when my first post-breastfeeding period could start as I'm sure it's bound to be heavier than normal so I want to be prepared!

I'm getting all the usual cramps, bloating symptoms that would usually indicate my period coming in the next 2-3 days, BUT I'm also experiencing clear stretchy discharge like I'm ovulating (sorry if TMI!). Never experienced cramps with ovulation before so now I don't know where I'm up to in my cycle! Am I ovulating now and likely to get period in a couple of weeks, or is it possible to get that kind of discharge towards end of cycle too and my period could be here in a day or two?

I appreciate everyone is different and pregnancy/breastfeeding will do all sorts of weird stuff to your normal cycle, but has anyone else experienced the typical ovulation clear/stretchy discharge at the end of their cycle before or am I likely to be mid-cycle despite the early PMS cramping bloating symptoms?

Ah the joy of periods!

Egg white discharge is more likely to be your first ovulation, so you are probably due in a fortnight but obvs I can’t be certain.
Your first period won’t necessarily be particularly heavy, my first ones a year post birth were both normal.

Honestly, be prepared for anything.

Thanks, hate the unpredictability! Sods law it'll start on the day of the wedding when I least want it to 😬

Hopefully it's ovulation but take lots of sanpro and spare pants. My first period after both dc was very heavy.
