To think this just sounds awkward?!

Met friend today and told me that last weekend her and her boyfriend went over to their neighbours house (also a couple)

Neighbour has a bar in their attic room and male neighbour was dj-ing and she was saying how fun it was…

Is it just me who would find that super awkward, 1 just you, your partner and female neighbour dancing the three of you in an attic room whilst male neighbour djs or I guess sitting there drinking in silence as it’s too loud for a conversation.

I feel in a group of four I’d rather sit and chat with background music at home or physically be out at a bar where other people are dancing:

I wish they were my neighbours

What is your post about? You weren’t even there.

Me too!

TooFullToCare · 21/08/2022 00:06

That gives me the ick.

Can’t imagine wanting neighbours that play decks tbh

LydiaBennetsUglyBonnet · 21/08/2022 00:09

I think that sounds like fun!

At the risk of sounding like an old fogey, I find bars really really loud these days and impossible to have a conversation. I’d MUCH rather be in a situation where there’s drink and dancing and you can say ‘Oi Derek turn that fucking racket down a moment can’t hear myself think’.

Very odd. I had something similar where we went over to new friends house and the boyfriend picked up a guitar and sat playing for a good half an hour. Not chatting, girlfriend sat watching him. We made attempts to still talk with her but she gave us one word answers. So we all sat and watched him. It was excruciating. Tried to start a conversation each time a song ended, but they weren't budging. Finally he stopped to go to the toilet and we made excuses to leave.

Luredbyapomegranate · 21/08/2022 00:13

He was probably just playing music while they chatted.. I am not seeing the problem?

Ah there’s always a prick with a guitar at a party!

Reminds me of a bloke my friend went out with who wrote poems and would randomly read some out at social events.

I don’t think that’s the same as it sounds like there was the group activity of dancing in the attic (a sentence I never thought I’d come out with).

Whataretheodds · 21/08/2022 00:14

Was he DJing or twiddling about on Spotify?

Cas112 · 21/08/2022 00:14

Problem not awkward if drink was involved. Also what's your problem, why are you questioning this? Not like they are harming anyone. Leave them to it

Probably

OMG YANBU

This reminds me of the time my friend and her husband ate cheese and onion crisps but their neighbour had a packet of Wotsits.

I feel I would rather have had Monster Munch so now I think they're insane and I've ghosted them all.

WomanStanleyWoman2 · 21/08/2022 00:38

They were just having fun. Look it up. It comes somewhere in the dictionary after ‘fuck’; as in ‘fuck knows why you’d give a toss’.

Suprima · 21/08/2022 00:40

I imagine they were drinking and dancing? Sounds like fun tbh

I find this odd that this is occupying your headspace. Are you so anxious and self conscious that you can’t help but imagine secondhand embarrassment for others?

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · 21/08/2022 00:48

Was probably all great fun after a few drinks. I’m sure they didn’t do it sober!
