Mark on sons leg ?

So…
AIBU to worry over this, I have health anxiety quite bad.
my son has this ONE mark on the back on his left leg, like behind the knee.

it’s one mark; it’s purple, non blanching so appears to be a bruise but circle.
Im worried it’s petechiae / purpura but don’t know if it can be classed as that as it’s only one mark.
He had a fever the last two days but it broke last night.
( he was checked over by a GP).

would you worry over this mark?

All I can see is a normal leg (1) and then a maybe a small bruise on picture 2 if I look hard enough.

Oops sorry should have been more descriptive.

here’s the purple like bruise thing …

When I upload it’s cutting the quality out in real life it’s a purple circle.

It looks like a blood blister to me. Me/the kids have had them in the past from for example trapping fingers in bike helmet clips, buggy clips, etc. Can you think of anything like that?

Hugasauras · 20/08/2022 19:03

Probably just an angioma or blood vessel or something. Wouldn't worry me at all. What are you worried about it being?

Jam291 · 20/08/2022 19:05

I’m a worrier of anything and everything and whilst I’m being honest I sometimes see anything and it can turn in my mind to something bad.

i’m worried it’s purpura and it’s another symptom with his fever he’s had.

even writing this I feel silly, stupid almost, but when it comes to the kids I just struggle.

@dontyoubother he’s always clowning around and stuff.
he could have pinched it on the toilet seat as it’s exactly where he would catch it.
It doesn’t help that he cried out earlier then started limping on that leg (for all of 15 minutes).
lack of sleep and my minds on over drive more than ever!

Looks like a blood blister to me too although I'm no doctor. How is he in himself as that's generally the best indicator.

Newuser82 · 20/08/2022 20:00

And I'm exactly the same with worrying about every little thing with my kids too 🙈

Jam291 · 20/08/2022 20:08

@Newuser82
hi!
well he has been his usual self… I.e non stop 😅. However he did stop earlier and tell me his leg was hurting…. Started a limp but that stopped after 15 mins.

it’s like a blood blister except it’s purple and flat… weird! And it definitely wasn’t there yesterday!

Blood blisters are purple and flat. Wouldn't worry me.

Jam291 · 20/08/2022 20:45

@Royalbloo thankyou!

My son has this - one purple spot on back of his leg. I don’t know when it appeared but he’s had it for a couple years and it hasn’t grown or irritates him.

@Jam291 please don’t worry - speaking from experience with a child who has had lots of hospital visits with petechial rashes - unless more spots come up (lots of pin pricks that don’t Blanche) try not to worry. Petechia can be seen primarily on soft mucosa - soft palate in mouth for example. If he’s fit and healthy and has no other spots, then he is fine. If he comes up with more and is unwell (temp, sickness, lethargy) get him seen

Yes it looks like a blood blister to me too. Keep an eye on it but I don’t think it’s anything to worry about.

Don’t feel silly asking here, It’s a good place to get advice. You were very brave posting in AIBU though 😆

Jam291 · 20/08/2022 21:14

@RosiePosie27
thankyou for replying, my DS was born covered head to toe in a petechiae rash (and was really poorly, hence my anxiety) so I know what it looks like it’s just the worry of this being it or purpura.

@RichardOsmansXraySpecs thanks!
I did think that but everyone has been very gentle with me! 😅
I just find it helpful to get advice / views of other parents etc
