All stabbings are bad but somehow this seems so awful and it seems there is nothing people will not do now.

I feel like we have hit an all time low? Is anyone safe anymore? That poor man imagine that happening you on your mobility scooter!

The country seems powerless to stop it too, its just keeps happening. This one has so upset me though anyone else?

I hate the world we live in why do people think its ok to do this?

I understand the general sentiment of being appalled, obviously it's awful, but I never really understood why people say they are actually upset over things in the news, unless it was very local to them or they knew the person. I do think the rise in anxiety that we see so often on here is partly due to people being overinvested and overthinking things that really have nothing to do with them at all. This is one case, one probably mentally ill person. There have literally always been appalling people and events, which just didn't have so much access to 24/7 rolling news about it. Extrapolation from that onto general musings about how awful society is I think are unhelpful and unwarranted. There's a huge amount of good stuff, volunteer, outreach, charity work, just general random acts of kindness that are far more common, but not newsworthy.

I don't understand why people always have to label they have a mental illness when they do something horrific. Some people are just evil. And by the way he didn't have mental health he was robbing him which turned to him killing someone.

Labels get thrown around for everyone lately as an excuse for their behaviour!

we all need to care it affects us all the way society is going. Its daft to say we shouldnt care about the way the country is going unless it affects us, we or our children a parents could be next etc! The Government couldnt care less whats happening.

Its just so upsetting to think this man went through this and he was always helping other people too. What a way to have your life ended.

DogsAndGin · 20/08/2022 15:39

Correction: why do men think it’s ok to do this? Not people.

97% of the time it is a violent man. There lies your problem. Nevermind not selling blades etc to under 18s, it’s men we need to have better control of.

ForfuckssakeEXHstopbeingatwat · 20/08/2022 15:40

Intend to think that anyone who can commit such an act is by definition unstable. Doesn't make them less responsible. "Evil" is quasi religious term that doesn't really mean anything in real life.

ForfuckssakeEXHstopbeingatwat · 20/08/2022 15:40

There's a difference between caring and being upset though.

Women are violent too.

Women are violent too.

Do you knows the stats of male vs female murderers?

I think YANBU. Some news stories upset us more than others for a variety of reasons. This poor man has played on my mind too. It's difficult to stomach the thought of someone hurting someone so harmless and vulnerable.

Women are violent too.

How many women's prisons are there compared to men's? Dogsandgin is not far off her number I'd guess!!

So either 90 odd percent of women are really savvy and get away with all these violent crimes or men actually commit more crimes.
