It is a heavy one…soz!

How's the sesh going OP? 😂

Dougieowner · 19/08/2022 19:51

42

thistimelastweek · 19/08/2022 19:53

There is no meaning.

You live a while, you die.

ofwarren · 19/08/2022 19:55

There isn't one

Youarealwaysunreasonable · 19/08/2022 19:59

@FatPatsCat 🤣No sesh ha ha, just a heavy question I meant.

There must be a point though surely?
People used to tell me it was to reproduce and pass on our genes, which I found offensive and upsetting as I was infertile for 9 years.
Then an ex boyfriend said it’s just to have as much fun as possible…which sounds great, but a bit shallow 🤷🏻‍♀️
Is it to make a difference to others lives?

@Dougieowner As my dad always said

Hillsidehigh · 19/08/2022 20:02

42, everyone knows that

ElizaJones · 19/08/2022 20:04

There’s no point. Our existence is just a happy little accident.

BigFatLiar · 19/08/2022 20:09

For many there is no point.
There is no right or wrong only what is socially acceptable.

Cosycover · 19/08/2022 20:13

None. No other animals even question it. We have imaginations so we want answers. But there's none. Nothing matters.

😂😂😂

Daysy · 19/08/2022 20:18

You are the will of billions of pieces of stardust to be you for a short while.

The meaning of life?

To just be.

listen to some Alan Watts on YouTube or read Conversations with God or the Tao of Pooh - all of these helped me to make sense of my purpose.

Youarealwaysunreasonable · 19/08/2022 20:58

But surely there must be more, must be a reason…to just be..is 🤷🏻‍♀️

Enjoy it if you can, love the people you create. Beyond that, probably not much.
unless you’re very clever, in which case do something to improve the world.

Muminabun · 19/08/2022 21:21

To just be is everything, to be alive and to be able to live. To live well and peacefully is more than most humans have or have ever had. I think if you want to understand life you need to read history. Most people never get a chance.
if you manage to reach the heights of human self actualisation then you can decide what your talents and passions are and add even more to your life by doing extraordinary things and leaving a legacy.
I agree with posters saying there is no point. We are simply here and it is up to us to live and find purpose.
the thought that there is no point is quite motivating in that you can just go forth and live a positive life.

Spodocomod0 · 19/08/2022 21:39

Yes 42, the meaning of life the universe, and everything.

megletthesecond · 19/08/2022 21:40

Nothing very special. Try and be nice to people, avoid eating fat, read a good book every now and then, get some walking in, and try and live together in peace and harmony with people of all creeds and nations.

Thesefeetaremadeforwalking · 19/08/2022 21:46

Someone told me once that "life is an obstacle course, designed by a comedian for people with no sense of humour".

I think they were right.

TitInATrance · 19/08/2022 21:52

You have to create your own meaning in your own life.
Hint: pick something that seems worthwhile to you. Don’t expect gratitude from your nearest and dearest.

Bigchezemakeme · 19/08/2022 21:53

Why must there be a goal or purpose? With everything humans know about life, the universe and all there is no suggestion of this? I love the fact there’s no point to anything. Just love your little life happily and die.

Yogibearspicnic · 19/08/2022 22:03

We are on a planet floating about among billions of others, in a blip of time that's minuscule compared to everything else. Life has been on this planet for Billions of years from single celled organisms, through dinosaurs, via many others. 99.9% of life that has ever existed on this planet is extinct now. Modern humans have only been around a few hundred thousand years, and we will die out too at some point, but invariably life will go on. Does there have to be a 'point'?

Lavendersummer · 19/08/2022 22:07

Well: To love and serve God in this life and to be with him in the next. To live in such a way they we get to Heaven.
Im Catholic.

Bigchezemakeme · 19/08/2022 22:10

Or, yes, if it makes you feel better you can subscribe to one of the religions and follow some ‘made-up to placate the masses’ meaning of life. It’s what it was invented for so if it helps go for it!

WhitePhantom · 19/08/2022 22:18

I don't think there's any "meaning", really. We just happen to be here, against all odds. So enjoy it, and try to make your own life and the lives of those around you better. That's it really.

I was listening to a podcast recently that said if we are the only planet with life, then if we weren't here the entire universe would be floating around forever, and nobody and nothing would ever witness it. That gave me the heeby jeebies 😵‍💫 So maybe we're just here to witness that the universe exists!
