To ask for help with my 3 year old

DS is 3 years old. Developing well, vocab is good etc. However his behaviour the last few weeks has been appalling and I am honestly at the end of what I can cope with!

We thought his behaviour was down to poor sleep but the last week he has slept through the night plus had a nap and is still just horrible!

One minute he will be playing nicely the next he will attack! Sometimes this is down to us saying 'be careful' or 'please don't do that' but sometimes it's nothing at all.

He goes into a complete tantrum. Throws himself on the floor, bites himself, scratches and punches us if we ignore him or go near him. I have two deep scratch marks on my arm from the tantrum today!

Now we thought maybe it was a deeper underlying issue e.g ADHD or Autism but he only ever does this around us whereas if he goes to grandparents or friends he is a completely different, loving child.

I am tired of this and quite frankly I can't go on any longer! Is this a phase, is there something wrong? I look like I've been savaged by a lion! And this is with giving him some brand new toys today!!

AIBU to react like this as this is normal behaviour for a just turned 3 year old or am I not being unreasonable as this isn't right?
