Upper abdominal cramps! Help!

Posted here for traffic.

Early yesterday morning I woke up with gnawing upper abdominal cramps. I took some buscopan and sat up for a while until they went. By mid
morning they had disappeared completely.

I’ve currently been awake since 1am with the same sort of cramps. I took Buscopan and 2 paracetamol over an hour ago now and I’m still in quite a lot of pain with them. I’m currently sat with a hot water bottle which isn’t really making much difference either. Haven’t been sick, nor have I had diarrhoea.

Im absolutely knackered but can’t sleep as lying down aggravates it. Anyone have any suggestions? I’ll be ringing my GP tomorrow but until then I’d really appreciate some relief so that I could sleep.

Could it be your gallbladder?

Hi, sorry I don't have any remedies but maybe you should be ringing 111 for advice?

user1488481370 · 19/08/2022 04:34

@steff13 I thought that sort of pain would be more one sided and lower down?

This is right in the centre of my upper abdomen but I’ll have a read up and see.

@choochoomama sorry, I should’ve said, I’ve rung them but been waiting for a callback for quite some time.

Gallbladder pain is upper right side.

This is just upper centre and I don’t think the pain is severe enough to be my gallbladder

Have you eaten any processed bread products? The reason I ask is I get awful stomach pains (in my actual stomach) if I have the preservative calcium propionate. This is a fairly new thing for me, only started last year.

@DelilahBucket I did yesterday but not the day before (I also had cramps the following morning)
Ah well. Who knows. Just wish I could get some relief and then some sleep!

Hope you've been able to find some relief and see your GP
